Mother's Day Gift Idea #5: Personalised Jumper using HTV

Mummas deserve love every day, and especially on Mother’s Day.

With less than two weeks to go before the big day, have you prepared a special gift for your mum?

If you're looking to personalise your gift, you might find inspiration in my previous posts over the past four weeks.

For the fifth and final personalised Mother’s Day gift idea, let's focus on something that allows mum to wear her truth– quite literally!

As winter approaches in Australia, it's the perfect time to consider getting mum a new jumper to keep her warm during the cold season. And why not make it extra special by personalising it just for her?

When it comes to personalising fabric projects like this, my go-to tool is my reliable Cricut Maker 3. Its intuitive software, Cricut Design Space, makes it a joy to bring my creative ideas to life. Whether I'm starting from scratch or customising existing designs, the Cricut Maker 3 always delivers fantastic results.

At the back is a Kate Piekutowski art.

Excited to get started? Here's what you'll need for this project:

Materials:

Tools:

Cutting tool: Cricut Maker 3
Heat Press: Cricut Easy Press

Now, let’s personalise the jumper:

1. CREATE (OR UPLOAD) THE DESIGN ON CRICUT DESIGN SPACE.

Open the Cricut Design Space and select ‘New Project.
I designed this file on Canva.

2. PREPARE THE MATERIAL SETTINGS.

Turn on and connect the Cricut machine to the laptop / computer.
In Cricut Design Space, choose the material settings.

Blade: Standard
Material: Iron on

3. BEGIN TO CUT.

Load the cutting mat into the Cricut machine. Follow the prompts to begin cutting.

4. WEED THE EXCESS VINYL AROUND THE DESIGN.

5. APPLY HEAT PRESS.

Follow the heat press application instructions from Siser and this process becomes a breeze.

For the EasyWeed HTV:

  • Preheat garment for 2-3 seconds.
  • Apply design at 150°C
  • Use medium pressure for 10-15 seconds.
  • Peel carrier hot or cold.

6. REVEAL YOUR PERSONALISED DESIGN.

Choosing a high-quality HTV that's easy to work with is key to making a personalised jumper like this a success. Even though I've worked with this HTV brand in the past, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the process was with the black Siser EasyWeed HTV. Now, I'm eager to see how it holds up in the wash—I'm crossing my fingers that it won't peel! ❤️
