30-day Print-on-Demand Challenge: Week 2
Diving into the second week of my print-on-demand 30-day challenge felt like stepping into a whole new world. You know how they say never judge a book by its cover? Well, that saying couldn't be more accurate. Despite my previous experience in the field, I found myself facing unexpected hurdles along the way. These challenges tested my patience and resilience, making it clear that this journey wouldn't be as smooth as I initially thought.
Reflecting on the first week, where I effortlessly churned out designs and added them to 10 products, I felt an all time high confidence-boost. However, as the second week commenced, my momentum hit a roadblock, after roadblock, after roadblock. Needless to say, it was frustrating! But hey, I persisted.
By the end of the second week, my wins include
- creating 8 statement (words) designs,
- learning to use 3 Print-on-Demand systems, and
- listing 27 products on Etsy. Woo hoo!
Now, let's break down the week into three parts and relive the journey together:
Starting with EASY:
- Understanding what Etsy requires when listing a product;
- Launching products from the Print-on-Demand systems (Printful, Printify, and Gelato) to Etsy;
- Linking product photos with apparel colours on Etsy.
Then, the MANAGEABLE:
- Updating designs and product details across various Print-on-Demand systems
- Manually creating a size guide spreadsheet to address the absence of this feature on Printify.
- Compiling screenshots of size guides and care instructions from Gelato, then assembling them into PDF/PNG files for customer reference.
And of course, the CHALLENGING:
- Letting go of Printful because their delivery times (to Australia for the products I selected) could take up to 30 days.
- Revising retail prices after switching to a different Print Provider on Printify, requiring careful consideration and adjustment.
- Crafting compelling product descriptions to attract potential buyers and effectively communicate the value of the items.
- Wrestling with the dilemma of sticking solely with Printify or exploring alternatives like Gelato for improved fulfillment and product selection.
- Battling persistent imposter syndrome while continuously designing products for sale, challenging self-belief and confidence along the way.
I'm still in disbelief that just two weeks into the challenge, I'm cruising through like a boss! 😛 With nearly 30 products now live on my Etsy shop, I'm charging toward the finish line.
Next week, my focus shifts to completing all 30 product listings on Etsy. This involves meticulous reviews of prices, descriptions, and mockups. Additionally, I'm keen to enhance my SEO game by delving into eRank to optimise my tags. Can't wait to see where this journey takes me!
