Foodie Bar in Mount Gambier: Sri Lankan and Modern Aussie Food
I initially debated whether to include this café in my Melbourne to Mount Gambier post, but the meal left such a great impression, it truly deserves its own spotlight.
As I mentioned previously, we only had a single day to explore Mount Gambier. While we had our must-see sights lined up, we didn’t map out where to eat. After trekking up to Centenary Tower (I was the slowest—thank you, asthma), we were absolutely starving and unanimously decided: we needed a proper meal.
A quick Google search led us to Foodie Bar on Commercial Street. The café was quiet when we arrived—likely because we hit that in-between brunch hour. Inside, it had a cosy, moody vibe, with dark walls and a glowing neon 'Foodie Bar' sign that stood out. We sat near the entrance, with a soft view of the sidewalk and a few passing locals.
The menu was an unexpected delight, offering a mix of Sri Lankan and modern Australian dishes. I appreciated the variety—it felt thoughtful without being overwhelming. I was craving something warm and comforting, and the menu delivered.
The portions were generous, the presentation simple and unfussy, and the flavours hit the spot.
