Personalise an Easter Tote using a heat transfer vinyl

Making a personalised gift does not have to feel like an overwhelming task. Sure, if you’re blessed with ample time and artistic flair, crafting a customised piece from scratch may be your cup of tea. For the rest of us juggling busy schedules and limited resources, there are simple yet heartfelt ways to add a personal touch to any gift without breaking a sweat.

Every year on Easter Sunday, it's a tradition in my family to exchange Easter-themed gifts. This year, I intended to add a touch of personalisation to the gifts that’s easy to execute and also time-saving. I found the answer to the personalisation idea with these Easter-themed totes at Kmart that I could use to gift wrap my Easter presents.

Do you own a Cricut machine or a similar cutting machine? I'm a big fan of my Cricut Maker 3, which I usually use for crafting cake toppers. But last year, during an overseas trip, I decided to expand its use and made some personalised shirts. Now, I have some leftover heat transfer vinyl stock, which I used for this year’s Easter gift tote bag project.

Materials:

Kmart Easter-themed tote
Heat transfer vinyl (from HTVront)
Weeding tools
Cutting Mat

Cutting tool: Cricut Maker 3
Heat Press: Cricut Easy Press

Let’s personalise this Easter tote:

1. Create the design on Cricut Design Space.

2. Prepare the materials.

Turn on and connect the Cricut machine to the laptop / computer.
In Cricut Design Space, choose the material settings.
Note: shiny side down

Mirror image: Yes
Blade: Standard
Material: Iron on

3. Begin to cut.

Load the cutting mat into the Cricut machine. Follow the prompts to begin cutting.

4. Weed the excess vinyl around the design.

5. Apply heat press.

Use a heat press to apply heat and pressure to the design according to the recommended settings for the HTV.

Heat Settings: 150 celsius
Pressure: Mid-pressure
Duration: 12 to 15 seconds

6. Reveal your personalised design.

Allow to cool before peeling off the carrier sheet.

There’s always a way to infuse love and personality with gift creation. Don’t stress over perfection. It’s the thought and effort put into personalising a gift that truly matters.
